To enhance the connection between alumni and their alma mater, promote interaction and communication between alumni and current students, build a communication platform, facilitate experience sharing and resource integration, and assist students' growth and development, the International College of Guangzhou Huashang University successfully held an alumni sharing session titled "The Growth Journey from Huashang to Monash" at 15:00 on Tuesday, June 3rd, in Room 412 of the Qizhi Building. The session invited Xu Junming, an alumnus of the 2017 English International Class, as the keynote speaker. He shared his rich and practical experience, drawing from his undergraduate studies at the University of Huddersfield in the UK and his graduate studies at Monash University in Australia. The session attracted active participation from students from various colleges and departments, including the International College, the College of Creativity and Design, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Teacher Education, and the College of Arts. It was chaired by Guan Huihui, the Director of the Student Work Office of the International College.

Senior Brother Xu Junming began by discussing his motivation for pursuing graduate studies, and then, drawing from his personal experiences, explored the topic with the students present from three perspectives: career development, academic value, and professional characteristics. He introduced the characteristics of the "3+1" training model for the English International Class, shared his own educational journey pursuing a bachelor's degree in TESOL at the University of Huddersfield in the UK, and his experiences adapting to cultural differences and integrating into local life during his studies in the UK, providing practical guidance for students interested in pursuing further studies abroad.

Subsequently, Senior Brother Xu Junming explained the key elements of graduate application, including language proficiency requirements, academic performance standards, and choices of study abroad programs. He also shared his experience in thesis writing and group assignments, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity, critical thinking, and time management. In terms of study abroad planning, he advised students to rationally choose professional institutions based on their personal interests and career goals, avoiding blindly following trends. At the same time, they should prepare for language exams as early as possible to comprehensively improve their language skills. Furthermore, he encouraged everyone to actively participate in international exchange programs and extracurricular activities, cultivating cross-cultural communication skills through practice and laying a solid foundation for future development.

After the sharing session, the students engaged in discussions with Xu Junming, their senior, on specific issues such as the application process for studying abroad, scholarship policies, and cross-major learning. For each question raised, he patiently answered, drawing from his own experience, and provided targeted advice to the students present.

Alumni Symposium

Subsequently, in order to better foster emotional ties between alumni and their alma mater, leverage the power of alumni, and promote the sustainable development of the International College Alumni Association, we held a symposium in Conference Room 408 of the Qizhi Building to discuss the reelection of the Alumni Council and preparations for the 20th anniversary celebration.

The arrival of these alumni provided practical advice for students who intend to study abroad, helped them understand foreign cultures, and enhanced cultural understanding. In the future, the International College will continue to integrate alumni resources, build a communication platform between alumni and current students, provide support for school development and student cultivation, and assist students in their growth, promoting mutual development.
